Timeline
- 1937
Saturday 24th July - The date the club was officially opened. A consortium of West Riding club members led by Robert Blackburn, founder of the Blackburn Aircraft Co., who became the clubs first president bought the land on which Scarcroft Golf Club now stands from Joseph Watson, another West Riding member. Membership limited to eighty male, and 12 female members.
The design and construction of the course was entrusted to Major Charles Mackenzie, a prominent golf architect of the day and the clubhouse was built by the firm of Lazenby builders to the design of the Leeds architect Mr Victor.
The first head greenkeeper appointed by the club was Harry Leadbeater.
- 1939 - 1945 (WW2)
